The UC–CSU ECCLPs Climate and Environmental Justice Literacy Initiatives aim to advance PK–12 climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action by collaborating with all UC and CSU campuses to work alongside three committee leads that will focus on research, teacher education, and community-based partners.

ECCLPs Executive Director Kelley Lê invited community organizations throughout California to attend a meeting to learn more about ECCLPs, future initiatives, and to consider partnership opportunities to help inform PK-12 climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action efforts alongside the UC and CSU systems.
Meeting Goals
Build excitement and understanding of what ECCLPs is and what the initiatives intend to accomplish.
Create critical relationships between ECCLPs and campus faculty and staff in related fields for both in-reach and outreach opportunities in and beyond the campus (e.g. science faculty and the California Science Project staff) to advance and inform the initiatives.
Share ideas about how a campus might serve as the next formal ECCLPs hub to participate in and benefit from the ECCLPs Climate and Environmental Justice Literacy Initiatives.
Solicit ideas about how departments or the campus might partner with ECCLPs and determine meaningful next steps.

Determine meaningful ways a campus might partner with and benefit from the ECCLPs Climate and Environmental Justice Literacy Initiatives. Opportunities include but are not limited to:
Support campus hubs to raise funds to stand up and sustain an ECCLPs hub as a leading partner with UC Irvine and UCLA in promoting climate and environmental justice literacy.
Faculty/staff apply for ECCLPs committee lead positions to lead a committee focused on research or teacher learning and support the executive director.
Faculty/staff apply for committee membership to contribute to a committee focused on research or teacher learning.
Connect campus networks to the initiatives to strengthen and align PK–12 climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action efforts across California.
Join a statewide initiative that will map the landscape to support the connection of faculty and staff over outreach and grant opportunities with local school districts involved with ECCLPs.
Audience
Campus staff involved in PK–12 pre- and in-service teacher education (e.g. Education Studies Department, California Subject Matter Project, CalTeach, ITEP, etc.).
Climate and environmental researchers and research staff from each department.
Campus development teams to strategize fundraising for campus hubs.
Environmental justice, equity, and indigenous knowledge specialists.
Those who are excited and have capacity to participate in the initiatives that may have other backgrounds and expertise.
