Over the summer, ECCLPs committee members from our research , PK-12 teaching and learning , and community-based partner committees collaborated to submit a various abstracts for the upcoming AGU Fall Meeting. AGU has been at the forefront of advancing science, fostering awareness to tackle climate change, promoting collaborations for solutions, and encouraging inclusivity and diversity in the scientific community. We look forward to connecting with everyone at AGU 2023 San Francisco!

ECCLPs is also thrilled to share that we are co-conveners of two groundbreaking sessions at this event. These sessions will offer a unique opportunity for pivotal discussions about the important role of PK-12 education in helping to bend the curve using key resources and learnings.

Additional Resources and Info for Strategic Climate Action


  • Community-based partner committee member , Tyler Valdes, shared that The Regenerate California Coalition (California Environmental Justice Alliance and Sierra Club) commissioned a Grid Strategies LLC study. It assessed performance and emissions from 107 gas plants expanded by Gov. Newsom during a heat wave. Contrary to belief, the study showed these plants did not improve grid reliability and raised toxic emissions in nearby low-income communities. Read more here .


  • The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seeks youth for its first National Environmental Youth Advisory Council. Apply by August 22, 2023 , to fill 16 vacancies. Learn more here .


  • Steering committee member, Dr. Joana Tavares, shared about the upcoming Climate Action Palooza event at West LA College. Their first annual 3-day conference will involve students, faculty, staff, partners, and the community in discussions about climate action and green/blue workforce development.
