Climate Change and Environmental Justice Curriculum Units

San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) and Ten Strands launched a new climate change and environmental justice program and are reviewing over 50 letters of interest from groups and climate change and environmental justice program individuals with diverse expertise. Project partners will help develop, write and pilot materials for the development of state-funded K-12 curricular resources focused on climate change and environmental justice. This is a joint project between Ten Strands, SMCOE and the California Department of Education (CDE). In the 2021–22 fiscal year, SMCOE received a grant from CDE (per education trailer bill AB 130, SEC 151) to arrange for the creation of these resources. SMCOE is contracting with Ten Strands to develop, test, refine, distribute and initially implement the K-12 curricular resources.
