UC Irvine CalTeach

Kelley Le, Director of the UCI Science Project, revamped and co-taught the UCI CalTeach math and science pre-service course (PS193 Research Methods) in Spring 2019 to include environmental and climate literacy frameworks recommended in the ECCLPS report. All CalTeach math and science pre-service teachers (since the ECCLPS event) must enroll and pass this course to earn their preliminary single-subject teaching credential to ensure they have the skills to develop curricula and teach math and science in meaningful and culturally relevant ways grounded in climate science. The class was taught online for the first two years because of COVID-19 and is now taught by UCI physical science faculty in-person.
