Dear ECCLPs Supporters,
Wishing you a wonderful start to the new year! We look forward to launching a collaboration between researchers, educators, and community-based partners (CBPs) to advance pre-kindergarten through 12th grade (PK–12) climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action.
Recruitment Opportunities
1. UC Irvine Endowed Chair: UC Irvine is seeking an associate or full-rank professor from any disciplinary perspective, whose scholarship focuses on environmental and climate change education, to provide intellectual leadership for ECCLPs. Applications due: February 15.
2. Research and CBP Committee Leads: Applications may be submitted through February. We recognize the need to host the remaining campus-specific meetings to share about opportunities to partner with ECCLPs initiatives prior to selecting committee leads. Five UC meetings will take place in February, four postponed in support of the United Auto Workers strike. For applicants that applied, we'll still be reviewing your application (thank you!).
Research Committee Lead: We are seeking a UC or CSU faculty or staff member with a strong background in research and evaluation.
CBP Committee Lead: We are seeking a UC or CSU faculty or staff member who is strongly affiliated with CBPs, or an individual who represents a community organization or CBP network.
3. Teaching and Learning Committee Lead: We will share the CSU Chancellor's Office call for letters of interest this month and dates to attend informational webinars.
4. Committee Members: We will release the application for 14 members for each of the three committees in February.
In collaboration with Change Narrative, we invite you to submit your climate story in the form of a written narrative, artwork, or poetry piece.Climate change is now part of the human experience and we wish to share personal experiences to bring awareness and action to injustices. Check out Kelley Lê's climate storyas a response to Jothsna Harris' call to action. Please feel free to share this information with your networks, especially students!
We encourage UC and CSU campuses with partnering organizations to submit a proposal for the California Climate Action Grants and include ECCLPs in meaningful ways to support campus projects. Please email Kelley Lêif you are seeking collaboration.
What You Can Do to Combat Climate Change provides insight and advice from four ambitious CSU faculty members on how individuals can minimize global climate impacts.
The National Science Foundation's Virtual Field Trips is now connecting students of all ages for free access to 25+ virtual field trips stations and marine laboratories around the world.
Invest in Climate Literacy, Justice, and Action
A gift to this UC–CSU initiative is an investment in the partnerships and strategies that will educate all of California’s high school graduates to be literate in climate and environmental justice issues and solutions.
