Robert Flores

Robert Flores, a senior scientist at UC Irvine's Advanced Power and Energy Program, holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, specializing in energy systems optimization. His current projects involve assisting low-income communities, decarbonizing carbon-producing systems like natural gas power plants, and researching renewable hydrogen production for heavy-duty vehicles. Robert is passionate about supporting low-income communities, advocating for long-term solutions to reduce utility bills while improving living conditions.

Recognizing the need for engaging PK-12 students with hands-on experiments, Robert believes early education can empower students to make a positive impact in the fight against climate change. He emphasizes education's fundamental role in understanding the significance of climate change and its societal impacts. Robert draws inspiration from students becoming more informed and equipped to address the climate crisis, providing hope for the future amid the challenges of climate action.
